Support the Lilburn Residence
The generosity of our donors and funders helps the Lilburn Residence Trust ensure this historic house in Thorndon is maintained and continues to make a valuable contribution to New Zealand’s cultural life.
There are two ways you can support the Trust: 1) become a Friend of the Lilburn Residence by making an annual donation; OR 2) make a one-off donation using the link below.
Become a Friend of the Lilburn Residence
For an annual donation, you can become a Friend of the Lilburn Residence. Friends are given priority invitations to House events, and have their names recorded on a Donors List lodged at the House.
There are three tiers of donation:
- DONOR — $100 annually, allows the Trust to update furniture, make small maintenance fixes and keep the house clean and dry.
- SUPPORTER — $250 annually, allows the Trust to undertake regular work on the garden, and ensure regular inspections and remediation maintain the integrity of the property.
- PATRON — $1,000 annually, allows the Trust to undertake substantial items of maintenance and important heritage protection work.

Other ways to support us
Buy and listen to music by Douglas Lilburn and other New Zealand composers. The SOUNZ website is a great place to explore music by New Zealand composers.
From time to time, we undertake special projects to assist our fundraising. You could buy the book we have published of Lilburn's two talks, A Search for Tradition & A Search for a Language. This makes a wonderful gift for anyone interested in art, music or New Zealand culture. Find out more and order.
The Lilburn Residence Trust is extremely grateful to receive annual funding from Wellington City Council which contributes towards the cost of rates and insurance. We have also received special project funding from: New Zealand Lottery Grants Board Environment and Heritage Fund, the New Zealand Community Trust, Wellington City Council Built Heritage Incentive Fund, the Lilburn Trust and the Stout Trust. In 2014 we received a grant from the Lottery Grants Board to develop a conservation plan for the house.
